History

In the year 2000, a gigantic explosion occurs in Antarctica, causing a cataclysm (tidal wave, melting polar ice caps) that devastates much of the planet. Authorities say the disaster is due to the fall of an asteroid. Fifteen years later, Humanity overcame this event, called the Second Impact. But mysterious creatures named Angels make their appearance, and try to destroy Tokyo-3, the new capital-fortress of Japan built after the Second Impact. To combat them, the secret organization NERV has developed an ultimate weapon, the "Evangelion" or "EVA", an anthropoid giant piloted as a simple mechanic, but in fact a very mysterious creature.
