The robot is equipped with an arsenal of weapons, including a sword and a shield, and can fly thanks to jet engines. Mazinger Z also has a powerful punch attack that can destroy buildings. Also, the robot can emit a heat ray from its eyes that can melt metal. Mazinger Z was originally designed to be controlled by a human pilot, but Dr. Kabuto's grandson, Koji Kabuto, later modified the robot so that it could be controlled remotely. Mazinger Z proved to be an invaluable asset in the fight against Grendizer, and played a key role in the villain's eventual defeat.
